It was a pleasure to spend a few days with Richard McKinney in his hometown of Muncie, Indiana… A former Marine, Richard once had a deep hatred of Muslims. His hatred and anger got so bad, that he built a homemade bomb and planned to detonate it at his local Mosque. He hoped to kill around 200 people. But it was after a chance visit to the Mosque that his heart was changed, and eight weeks later he converted to Islam. He then went on to become president of the Muncie Islamic Centre for a period and is now using his story to encourage others to look beyond the many stereotypes around Islam. Here is his story.
